(I'm not sure about this (never did it, read the manual please.)) Make your workspace where the tasks were created, a source for your last workspace. More, we had 5 workspaces.Īs far as I know, there are 2 solutions for that :ġ. And the problem you mention there's is what I'v encountered also.

I'v worked with roundtable for about 2 - 3 years. Do you have any suggestions? (preferably a beginner’s step-by-step guide).

I’m still learning RoundTable (I’ve read the manual a couple of times now trying to understand the process) and have no clue on how to go about this. I’m not sure how the dscsxe-prod workspace was created – only that I need to promote all the same tasks which were imported/compiled to dscsxe-tst. I also have a Workspace Differences report on the PCODE files between dscsxe-prod and dscsxe-tst. I have the import analysis reports on all the files which were compiled. What I’ve learned so far about RoundTable is that once you promote a task, it is no longer available to import again to promote (see error below when I select the dscsxe-prod workspace and try to build task 757 to import and then compile the files – I also get this if I were to try and import the task again into the same workspace). Now we want to promote all the tasks which were promoted to the dscsxe-tst workspace to the dscsxe-prod workspace (which I have a list of about 20 tasks). The problem is that these tasks should have also been promoted to dscsxe-prod (which was not known until now.) I have a 2 page step-by-step document I’ve been following on promoting tasks to the dscsxe-tst workspace (but nothing describes how to promote them also to dscsxe-prod). Since I started here (05/08/06), I’ve been receiving several tasks from the developers to promote to the dscsxe-tst workspace and have successfully promoted all of them to dscsxe-tst through RoundTable. This means you can always load up old projects in previous versions (CityEngine can run alongside multiple versions of itself). We have 3 workspaces – dscexe-dev, dscexe-prod, and dscsxe-tst. The addition of perpendicular snapping in the measurement tool is welcome.Īs always I recommend creating a specific workspace for CityEngine 2020.1 and importing/copying from previous versions into here using the CityEngine import project tool. Improvements to the RPK export, validation and better handling of referenced assets, should make sharing CityEngine rules easier and more reliable.

Whilst those are the ‘Esri’ headlines on improvements this release, I’m happy to see the Plant Loader (in Esri.Lib) has been updated to use CSV files (this is a fantastic use case for CSVs in CityEngine too). They also seem to have produced a new tutorial for it as well. The support of CSV files was a big improvement to CityEngine and they’ve added a transpose function to the mix with this release. Planners in local government should love it though! My Animal City project works well in 2020.1 I like ArcGIS Urban but for me I can’t help seeing it as a less flexible frontend to CityEngine. The workaround for now seems to be create square shapes (which you can draw to an axis direction) and draw a street that snaps to it.ĪrcGIS Urban integration moves forward with building type alignments and ‘skyplane’ attributes. Lots of people use CityEngine to create street grids and this would help. Improvements on street creation (so you can snap to shapes) I like, but I wish you could fix street segments to an axis.

There’s now support for LOD’s in exports for Unreal (via datasmith), this requires you to code your CGA properly like the Redlands Redevelopment example. I think the main highlights for people are the inclusion of a USD importer (for CGA and general import) that builds on support for USD exports in 2020.0. As with most ‘.1’ releases there seems be a whole bunch of minor improvements.

You should be able to download from your ‘my.’ account shortly (if not now).

Always my favourite time of year a new ‘ArcGIS’ CityEngine release, of course I’ve been on the beta so nothing has surprised me.
